We are in the Region 5 district of the Forest Service. The district previously closed the national forests for recreational use that lasted until 12:00pm On September 21. The order allowed non-recreational activities operations to continue and allowed use of the forest service roads by applying for a FS-7700-48 permit, which we applied for.
On September 19, a new order was put in place replacing the previous one. It extended the date that some of the forests would be closed until September 24. However, Plumas National Forest was not on the list and as such is open as of September 19. Here is the link to Plumas National Forests alerts. The only current restrictions in Plumas National Forest are no camping and no smoking. https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/plumas/alerts-notices
The fires around us have been mostly contained. The closest one is 100% contained and the North Complex fire that was the major concern over the past 2 weeks is now 64% contained.
